Welcome to Allez Pyrenees, a small but, we like to think, perfectly formed holiday venture in the Pyrénéen spa town of Bagnères de Bigorre. We cater for activity holidays - particularly cycling, walking and skiing and for holidays where you might just want to take it easy. We also provide accommodation on a straightforward bed and breakfast (chambres d'hôtes) basis.
Our goal is to give you everything you need to ensure you have the best possible stay in this beautiful part of France, be it personally guided cycle rides, planned and graded route maps should you wish to guide yourself, tips on the best picnicking spots, information on the wildlife around, excellent breakfasts and evening meals, restaurant information or the best place in the garden to read a book.
We’re really proud of our accommodation. We’re currently No.1 on Tripadvisor and have received their Certificate of Excellence.
We’re constantly working to make it better for our guests and the fact that we get plenty of guests coming back time and time again is testimony that this seems to be working. We love the positive comments we get when cyclists see the bike workshop for the first time, or when walkers peruse our array of guides and maps; and hearing happy chatter around the large dining table as people discuss their days is our passionate motivation.
The house itself is called ‘Les Dix Arches, and was built in 1928 by a grandfather looking to accommodate his family for holidays in the area, the spirit of which we love. Situated on the route to Col du Tourmalet and Col d’Aspin, it is still only a 4 minute walk into the centre of town, with its wide variety of shops, bars, restaurants and wonderful Saturday market.
All 5 bedrooms (triple, double and twin) are ensuite and have tea making facilities, hairdryer, safe for valuables and access to the veranda. The bathrooms are well-equipped and modern. Outside, the enclosed gardens to the front and back of the property are home to lizards, salamanders, a variety of birds and bats can often be found in our small cave. There is a hot tub, petanque alley and a south facing sun deck.
Guests also have the use of a guest lounge - a spacious area with table tennis, darts, sofas, French TV, DVDs, books and for cold evenings, a wood burning stove. In addition, there is a kitchenette with microwave, fridge, kettle, crockery and utensils. We also provide free snacks for immediate calorie replenishment after a big day out.
Bikes will be well cared for in our secure garage and there is a small workshop available for guest use. Outside there is a wash down area (for equipment and riders if necessary!) Off road garaging for motorbikes is available with prior arrangement and subject to availability. We also have heated storage for winter sports equipment and any muddy gear in our ski and boot room.
As part of the standard B&B rates you can be assured that your day will start well with the choice of croissants, bread, jam, boiled eggs, cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruit and porridge, washed down with coffee, a selection of teas, hot chocolate and fruit juice.
Should you fancy something a little extra, we also offering the French equivalent of a Full English (a Franglais?) for a small supplement. This will include sausage, bacon, mushrooms, eggs and beans , alongside the usual continental breakfast options. Because it is all freshly prepared, all we ask is that you provide us with 24hrs notice when you order and that it is for a minimum of 2 people.
Although we are only 400m from the centre of Bagnères de Bigorre and a wide range of restaurants, we recognise that not everyone will want to eat out every night. This is why we have introduced ‘Supper Nights’, when you can join us, in traditional Tables d’Hôtes style, for dinner.
Monday, Wednesday and Fridays are Supper Nights (meals for less than 3 people and other evenings by exceptional request) and will feature a two or three course, freshly prepared meal. Whilst the menu on the day is fixed, we will discuss with you what you may prefer to eat ahead of time, including the number of courses: a carb-load ahead of a Tourmalet ascent, a curry, typical French cuisine etc. Clearly, the needs of multiple guests must be catered for but we always try to ensure everyone is happy!
Caroline, one of your hosts has been vegetarian for 25 years, and so you can imagine, vegetarian and vegan food is a speciality at Les Dix Arches [although omnivores need not worry – Andy your other host is a confirmed omnivore so all needs are met] Other diets, including gluten-free are also gladly catered for.
As with the cooked breakfasts, most of the time we ask for 24hrs notice should you wish to join us at our table for supper and provide us with any special dietary requirements, however, if it is your first meal with us, we ask for 48hrs notice.

Without doubt, the area is a cycling mecca. It’s known to Tour de France followers as the Circle of Death, with the legendary Cols on our doorstep. Bagnères is regularly at the heart of some of the Pyreneen stages and we’re frequently full within a week of The Tour route being announced..
If you are here for road biking, you’re in good company – Andy is a keen cyclist and knows the Cols and the routes in the area intimately – including the little-known local gems and the best coffee and cake stops. He is always happy to answer questions either during your trip’s planning stage or whilst you’re here. If the thought of riding mountains is a little daunting, head north from Les Dix Arches and you’ll find valley roads, quiet villages and smaller, rolling hills – Caroline has recently started cycling and is a specialist on these!
Our bike workshop is always stocked with basic essentials and tools for guest’s use. In addition, we carry spare tubes and gels and energy bars should you wish to pack light.
If you’re interested in hiring bikes whilst you’re out here, there are two good hire shops very close by. It doesn’t need to be limited to road bikes either; mountain bike (there are 100’s of kms of MTB trails nearby), fat-bike and electric bike hire is also popular. We can manage all the arrangements for you, so almost all you need do is turn up and ride. Contact us for further details.
And at the end of your stay, we ask guests to write on our wall the name of their favourite ride – this has become a feature of the workshop in its own right.
The walking is fantastic, with plenty of variety for all abilities. This is arguably the best way to see the smaller wonders of The Pyrénées, the animals, insects and plants. As with the cycling, we provide plenty of planned routes, should you wish to use them - all graded depending on how much time you’ve got, fitness levels and ease of walk, as well as some top tips on what you might expect to see along the way. Feel free discuss what you fancy doing with us – walking is one of our favourite pastimes and we’d love to help.
Bagnères is a short drive from La Mongie, part of the La Mongie/Barege ski area - the largest ski area in the French Pyrénées. With over 100km of pistes, it’s suitable for all levels of skier. The ski season usually runs until early Aprilsnow permitting (something that is more assured since the installation of a large number of snow cannons in the resorts). For more information visit the region's ski website.
There are several good courses within easy reach. Bagnères’ own course 5km away has spectacular views both of the mountains, the Cieutat Plateau and into The Baronnies. If you’re interested in playing, let us know and we can arrange tee times for you or find out more at the Country Club de Bigorre website.
Beyond cycling, walking and skiing, there is a wide range of other activities to suit all tastes, including horse riding, white water rafting, canyoning, fishing, gastro-visits, spa treatments, climbing, via ferrata, shopping or eating out – give us a call and we can advise – some of it is seasonal but all is easily accessible from Bagnères and your Allez Pyrenees base.
